Being able to pull off something like that, on top of promising 4k resolutions and 60 frames per second gameplay, would require Google Stadia to offer some serious power. And as it turns out, Stadia is effectively a next-generation gaming experience, more powerful than the PS4 Pro and Xbox One X combined . So far, none of the demoed games have really been able to show off Stadia's power, but perhaps some of the first-party exclusives will take full advantage of the platf
“Whether or not folks realize it, this is the hell on Earth time for us with E3,” Hines told us during our conversation at PAX East. Many other outlets saw this “hell on Earth” comment specifically and thought it was a surefire tease that Hines was casually dropping into our conversation to let fans know that a new DOOM game would indeed be appearing at E3. Turns out, Hines wasn't playing four-dimensional chess in the middle of our conversat
Plagued with self-doubt following the DOOM Eternal E3 teaser , we caught up with Hines after Bethesda's showcase event to ask him if he was indeed teasing the newly announced DOOM game to us during our interview. He responded and said that his use of “hell on Earth” wasn't meant to intentionally tease DOOM Eternal . He was just used as a casual expression because, you know, that's what it
The simultaneous release of Doom Eternal could suggest other aspects of the Nintendo Switch's future. The release further bolsters rumors that Bethesda could start to develop games specifically for the Nintendo Switch . At the very least, the publisher could implementing Nintendo Switch specific mechanics into its game. The precedent for this has already been set with Nintendo amiibo and motion control functionality in the Nintendo Switch port of Elder Scrolls IV: Skyr
And speaking of the Super Shotgun, the weapon's new grappling hook is a godsend. The Super Shotgun was already my favorite weapon to use in DOOM but being able to now quickly fly between enemies with the grappling device just feels phenomenal. I haven't seen all of the weapons and additions that each will have in DOOM Eternal , but the grappling hook for the Super Shotgun is a game-changer. I look forward to blasting hundreds of demons apart with it in the final prod
Is this a story we really needed to follow-up on? Not really. This is more just me being petty and proving to other outlets and readers that claimed I had missed an obvious tease from Hines that I hadn't missed anyth
During the extensive presentation, id Software's Marty Stratton and Hugo Martin explained how the new 'Invasions' mode will work in Doom Eternal . As well as going it alone to take down Doomguy, gamers can team up with their friends to form a Slayer Hunting Party of deadly demons. Stratton and Martin didn't divulge how many players can take part in these hunting parties, but it sounds an awful lot like Doom 's own spin on battle roy
To date, none of those exclusive games have been announced, but more information is expected to come in the summer. In fact, Google said that the Stadia launch lineup will be confirmed this summer, so those interested in Google's ambitious new game streaming service should only have to wait a few more months to find out m
DOOM Eternal has continued to add even more mechanics and systems than its predecessor to encourage this aggressive style of play, too. Glory kills return from the last game and these actions still give you health upon pulling them off. Chainsaw kills, in a similar fashion, still refuel your ammo reserves when needed. Joining these mechanics in Eternal though is that of a flamethrower which helps give you added armor. If you utilize your new flame device to catch demons on fire, killing them while they're still ablaze will allow you to net additional armor that explodes forth out of foes upon death. When you get into the thick of an arena battle in DOOM Eternal , you'll have to keep track of all three of these levels (health, armor, and ammo) and make sure that you're pulling off kills that will benefit what you can try this out might need at a given t
If anyone thinks the idea sounds a little familiar, it pays homage to the Souls series. Heading back to 2009, FromSoftware's Demon's Souls included the idea of players taking control of the Black Phantom to join the fun. As the series moved on into the three Dark Souls games, the invasion mechanic remained a popular part of multiplayer and cooperative gamep
Catching some subtle grief from both journos and comment sections for supposedly making an error in my reporting wasn't bothersome to me personally. However, I find it hilarious that many outlets thought they knew more than I did about my one-on-one conversation, despite not being an active participant in that chat that took place with Hines. This is why you shouldn't believe everything you read on the internet (even though I guess in this case, you kind of could have). Welcome to gaming journalism in 2
