Updated on August 12th, 2024, by Nathan Halsey: Things in Destiny 2 have changed quite a bit since the release of The Final Shape, and this list has been updated to reflect that. While some of the weapons in the original publishing will be staying, many others have been powercrept, and have either lost their usefulness or are overshadowed by newer entries. It should also be noted that with the release of The Final Shape weapon sunsetting has been entirely reversed, meaning that any weapons in your vault or on your character are now usable, regardless of their age. While this list will outline the best of the Auto Rifles, don't forget that the goal of the game is to have fun and that the old gun in your vault that looks cool will operate perfectly fine in most low-end PvE cont

On September 4, 2018, Bungie released Forsaken, the first major expansion for Destiny 2. From this moment onward, the game changed for the better. Just as The Taken King saved the original Destiny, it’s likely that Forsaken saved Destiny 2. With its launch, many of the inherent problems were done away with. New sub-classes were introduced with new Supers, ability recharge times were tuned to align more closely with how they were in Destiny 1 and Randomly rolled loot was back with even more ways to earn it. On top of all this, Two new locations were added, there were more secrets similar to the excellent “The Whisper ” secret exotic quest from Warmind tucked away for players to find, and it was all capped-off with “Last Wish,” one of the best raids in the series to date. With Forsaken, Destiny was finally back, and many fans were feeling happy.

Add that with an assortment of enemies that attack from all different directions in multiple different ways and a boss fight like no other in the game makes this a strike that players will not soon forget. Even if in the end they would like You don't even need to own Shadowkeep to enjoy a lot of the expansion's content. The opening mission, the Moon patrol space, the new two new Strikes and the three Crucible maps are available as part of Destiny 2 walkthrough 2: New Light, the free-to-play version of the game. While the Raid and campaign are sectioned off, there's a lot you can do without owning Shadowkeep (the Seasonal Activities require you own the Season Pass).

Despite all the regression with the campaign and monetization and the rehashing of older content, Destiny 2 still looks quite good. The Moon is an atmospheric place to visit and traversing the caverns the Hive call home produces a sense of dread that other locations in the Destiny 2 experience can't provide. Meanwhile, the short visits into the Black Garden are gorgeous thanks to all the colors and lush jungle mixed with Vex machinery. Destiny 2 may be two years old now, but it's still looking good.

Players who are not a fan of teamwork will absolutely hate The Corrupted strike. The level on its own is one of the hardest in-game levels players will face anyway but the added need to rely on your teammates makes coordination between teams all the more imperat

Bungie is now quadruple-dipping with Season Passes, loot boxes (via Engrams), direct cosmetic purchases and a Battle Pass. The Battle Pass in particular is annoying by adding an additional layer of time-consuming grind to a game that already requires a lot of grind. The scummiest part of the whole system, though, is that Bungie has built the Eververse store straight into the Director menu. Previously, monetization could be ignored entirely because it was secluded to the Eververse Store at the Tower. Now, Bungie has made sure that it follows players everywhere they go. It's sad to see such regression after Forsaken made Destiny 2's monetization feel fairer to players.

Probably the most difficult thing about Savathun's Song is the instant unexpected kills that occur without players even having time to react to what is going on onscreen. During this strike, one has to be precise and quick on the draw if they are to make it past all the Ogres and Shriekers that inhabit this level. The unprepared player will soon become swarmed by enemy fire, while even the seasoned gamer will have to adjust to the difficulties taking place around them. Savathun's Song is by far one of the hardest events inside Destiny
