Level 1 Hexblade Warlocks also receive the "Hexblade's Curse" ability , which curses a target to receive extra damage equal to the Warlock's proficiency bonus whenever the Warlock deals damage to them. It also reduces the number needed to roll a critical hit against that target by 1, and restores HP equal to the Warlock's Proficiency+Charisma Modifier when they kill the cursed target. A Hexblade Warlock gains Shield and Wrathful Smite as level 1 spell options.

The Trickery Domain grants powers of illusion and misdirection , and is a Domain granted by many chaotic and mischievous deities. At level one, Trickery Domain Clerics gain "Blessing of the Trickster", allowing them to grant a creature in range (1.5m) advantage on stealth checks until the Cleric loses concentration. This can be fantastic when used in conjunction with a rogue, allowing them to easily scout ahead or dip out of combat to reposition and set up a sneak attack.

Going back on their word or engaging in cruelty will cause a Paladin who swore the Oath of Devotion to become an Oathbreaker. This makes it an especially tricky subclass to maintain when playing as the "Dark Urge" origin, whose bloodthirst is hard to control and can lead to accidents. Another early example of somewhere this Oath can be broken is during the encounter with Damays and Nemissa in Act One, with Lae'zel in a cage, as choosing to attack Damays and Nemissa will immediately break the Oath of Devotion.

Depending on your choice of background, your choices for Cleric starting skill proficiencies will change. By choosing the Guild Artisan background, players gain Insight and Persuasion proficiency, so it's ineffective to select these two skills again. Instead, go with Medicine and Religion.

The Circle of the Moon Druid also gains access to more powerful Wildshape forms faster than other subclasses, gaining the Deep Rothe form at level 3 rather than level 4, for example. They also gain some Wildshape forms that the other subclasses do not have access to, like the Dire Raven (level 3).

Level five adds "Speak with Dead" and "Slow" to their Domain spell list, letting them gather additional information from fallen creatures and inflict the powerful "slowed" condition on foes to reduce their capabilities.

The best background for Rogues in BG3 in general is the Urchin background. It grants proficiency in Sleight of Hand and Stealth, two skills which Rogues regularly use, and will trigger moments of Inspiration when doing typical Rogue shenanigans, like unlocking heavily locked treasures, sneaking into areas, and performing stealthy maneuvers in and out of combat.

At Level 5, Oathbreakers gain "Crown of Madness" and "Darkness" as additional prepared spells , allowing them to get enemies to attack their allies and create fields of darkness to conceal their allies. Level 7 Oathbreakers gain an "Aura of Hate," which lets them add their Charisma modifier to damage rolls. It also lets them extend this benefit to undead or fiend allies within 3m.
