While Blizzard has banned players for offenses like botting and win trading in the past, this is the first time they have publicly named the players. It seems like they're stepping up their efforts to clean up the professional scene as Blizzcon gets clo |

| The one company that could make a significant impact on all of this is of course, Valve, the game's developer. But unlike Dota 2 , Valve has chosen to let other groups organize most of the marquee CS:GO tournaments, at least so far. I mained a demon hunter all the way through Diablo 3 , had loved the character and the artwork associated with it. It seemed a natural choice for me at the time. I just kind of sat down one day, looked at my boyfriend, and said "This. This is what I want to do next." So I did it. Rather poorly. It was pretty much glued together and the first time I wore it to Megacon, it hadn’t even been sealed, I just slapped paint on it. It evolved quite a bit between Megacon and Supercon. It now just sits on a mannequin in my room, it’s almost too fragile to wear out anymore. There’s a nostalgic part of me that wants to remake it knowing everything I know now |

| The same goes for League of Legends, bringing it back into the discussion, and they have shown no sign of ever stopping this practice. They release a new champion every week, some of which cost money to play, and many of which are "worth," leaving the players who don't have the money behind. I was this close to trying out Orcs Must Die: Unchained before I found out that it uses the League-of-Legends-style system for hero purchasing. These games are no better than the cable company. In fact, they may be worse. Imagine if every week, Comcast started a new channel with new and amazing shows, but made you pay a new fee if you wanted to experience it. | |
| | On July 31, 1989 the North American gaming industry changed forever. This day in history marks the debut of Nintendo's Game Boy , a portable gaming device that would go on to revolutionize gaming and tap an entirely new market. Unsurprisingly, being able to take your game on the go was incredibly well-recieved by the masses and the handheld has secured its place as an iconic device amongst gamers and casual consumers al |

| | The Heroes of the Storm trailer is potentially a controversial inclusion on this list. The trailer doesn't include any logical story, but in that sense, it is a perfect representation of the game that it is selling. Heroes is all about action and fun,and the trailer runs with both of those concepts and pumps the volume up to 11. Viewers have the chance to see six of Blizzard's most iconic heroes and villains square off in a high-powered battle and it is incredibly reward |

| They gave me a chance and let me cast a game and I was like, "Alright, thanks!" He emailed me next week and asked, "Hey, would you like to cast this game too?" I'm like, "Sure," and he would give me a game to cast. Then, over time, another person reached out, "Hey, do you want to cast this, you want to cast that?" Sure! It just snowballed from th | Along with marking the debut of the now infamous anti-hero Wario, Super Mario Land: 6 Golden Coins improved upon its predecessor in nearly every way. | I saved the best for last on this list. While many folks pointed out Nintendo’s lack of original titles, Splatoon made a splatastic debut and made up for the last few decades. The cute, colorful, simple online shooter is a friendly way to introduce players to the genre. Clever weapon designs and fresh gear to wear makes Splatoon a uniquely designed game. It’s not serious or violent like many others, which appeals to players of all ages. Friends, parents, kids and squids can all enjoy this game together and not have to yell or scream about campers. Inking the entire level and fending off the other team is a big task, but Nintendo made it enjoyable. Plus, you might run into a Squid Party and those are always fun to mess with. Splatoon is my choice for best game of 2015. | |
| | Despite its success, Valve doesn't seem to have as profitable of a business model as Riot. Comparing the two is like having a tech company compete with three unpaid men in a basement. Now normally, fans would rather thoroughly milk a cheaper game, but Riot somehow constantly pulls in its audience with shiny new changes. Fans sometimes forget that when a business succeeds, it performs better. More money goes into focus groups and reworking teams. So at the very least, a portion of Riots riches actually go into improving parts of the game that need to be fi |

| Regardless of critic reviews or a fandom tearing itself apart over Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice ’s many artistic choices, we’ll soon be getting a full-fledged Justice League movie. Two of them, in fact. Short of a meteor hitting DC headquarters, there’s no stopping it at this stage; we’ve seen artwork, been introduced to each of the members, and denying us the chance to see Jason Mamoa’s Aquaman at this stage would be criminal. | The TV universe has taken a different path due to the medium. It started with Oliver Queen/Green Arrow, though the series was relatively grounded at first with Oliver not even using his iconic name until much later. More fantastical elements began to creep in, until The Flash spinoff kicked off and __ became massively popular, and we started to meet more major players: Black Canary, The Atom, Mr Terrific, Hawkgirl and Hawkman, Vixen, Firestorm, Black Canary again, White Canary (that's the first Black Canary, post-resurrection) and many, many more. Metahumans became big news, and we’ve even delved into alternate universes and magical artifa | Tyrael's Sacrifice is the first of a few tear-jerkers to make our list. | For this list, we only considered trailers from World of Warcraft forward, but the best five cinematic moments from the pre- WoW days could be an entirely different list. Despite the limited technology of the time, Blizzard still managed to produce amazing cinematics for the original versions of Diablo, StarCraft , and Warcraft 1 | While Legend of Solgard is filled to the brim with in-game goodies, there's something to be said about the organic way in which the game handles all of its in-game chests, currencies, and gems. Even though Legend of Solgard contains its fair-share of microtransactions, none of them feel particularly predatory, or for that matter, mandatory. During the time I spent with the game (which was notably pre-launch and possibly tested before the final pricing model has been established), I never once felt compelled to insert my credit card number nor did I ever feel like the game was designed explicitly to elicit money from its gameplay loop. The initial dread of looming microtransactions that loomed over me while I was enjoying Pokemon Quest was noticeably absent during my tenure with Legend of Solgard , and that comfort made the game all the more enjoya |

| Duking it out with gigantic creatures is great in any video game. Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate came out last February and brought its massive monsters to the U.S. One of the game’s biggest strengths is its diverse weaponry and armor you wear to hunt down big trophies. Customizing yourself to fit the action is necessary in Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate and luckily there’s enough to wear. Even though your goal is to track down and kill the monsters, it is amazing seeing how different they all are. All the sizes, colors and abilities make for a wild adventure. | |
| | Legend of Solgard 's core gameplay loop starts off pretty simply. Each level begins with enemies coming out of a portal to attack Embla and her squadron of creatures. To win each altercation, players must attack their opponents' portal and reduce the portal's hit point count to zero. To launch these attacks, players must manipulate their own different factions by matching three creatures of similar color together vertically on their side of the battlefield. If no enemy or object obstructs the creature's attack, the player can directly attack the opponent's portal, reducing the opponent's hit points. Conversely, if an enemy is in the way of a creature's attack, that enemy will be weakened or destroyed rather than the opponent's por |
| Now, let's not get carried away. Making money is a company's goal, and there's nothing wrong with that. The issue is, this benefits the company at the expense of the player. Consider this: what's to stop Plants vs. Zombies 2 from perpetually releasing new plants while balancing the zombies and expansions in a way that necessitates their purchase, as they already have? This turns the game into an infinite cash-cow that will likely make more money than if they charged a $60 flat fee by grinding it out of players who want a full gaming experience. | |
