It just might be more fun playing entirely through the eyes of Arthur. Obviously, one is not better than the other, but having the opportunity to experience the West with ones’ own eyes on the ground level of it all, with the amount of detail Rockstar has put in is sure to be a wildly different experience. | | It’s no secret that Red Dead Redemption 2 will be Rockstar’s most ambitious open-world game yet, with a map that is as massive as it is rich with characters, places and things to do. RDR2 is promising a living world and from the previews of said game it looks like RDR2 is going to deliver just that. Immersing ones’ self in the boots of Arthur Morgan (protagonist) would be a missed opportunity for feeling that immersion on an entirely different level. Things look a lot different when their happening through our eyes. While third person offers certain game vantages it can take away from the feeling of actually being whatever character. |
| Ultimately, the discovery of Gertrude and her horrifying fate is a great example of why RDR2 has such enduring gameplay. | | Not in a bad way though. Take the gameplay and strategy of Grand Theft Auto and add the expansive land of the old west and you've got yourself Red Dead Redemption. In this game you play the role of John Marston, a former outlaw hunting down his old gang in order to be granted amnesty. Because it's set an entirely different century from Grand Theft Auto, this game was modified to compensate for the lack of modern technology. Law enforcement has no way of pursuing you unless a crime was witnessed by someone. The scenery and sound are all deemed high quality and a natural fit to the gameplay. There's even a zombie expansion, which of course isn't natural, but still flows with this game. It also won several Game of the Year awards from numerous publications. |
| President Karl Slatoff also mentioned that Red Dead Redemption 2 will have an "all-new online experience," but declined to provide more information about it. | Welcome to This Week in Gaming, where we take a look back at some of the most newsworthy events in gaming history from last year to even decades ago that happened this very week. Take a gander at some of the highlights and see which spark nostalgia and which may still be news to you. | Playing in first-person means experiencing the world as it is happening because it's happening with only what can be seen wherever one may be looking. It’s easy to imagine the multiple scenarios that might be brought to life even more just from playing RDR2 in first-person. Horseback shootouts can have more feeling. Bar brawls will feel that true punch. Being chased down by whatever local law enforcement comprised of sheriff and deputy could feel palpably tense. While Rockstar has yet to show how first-person will function, hopefully they’ve taken some lessons out of their own book with GTAV. First-person has come a ways in games with titles such as Dishonored, Prey, Call of Duty and the like. While first-person might not be the main focus, Rockstar has an opportunity to appease players that will want to see through the eyes of Arthur Morgan. |

With stellar gameplay mechanics and an immaculate narrative that will leave anyone blown away once complete, Red Dead Redemption is one of the best games to hit the last generation of consoles. Now all we need is a sequel. |
| While the Rockstar Steam update isn't an official confirmation of the RDR2 remaster's release date, it's a strong signal that something exciting is just around the corner. Whether it's Grand Theft Auto V or the recently released The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, having an open world to explore is becoming more traditional with every new release. But there is one sandbox game that hasn't been discussed in a long time and that game is Red Dead Redemption. The Western game not only had beautiful environments, but was filled with tremendous gameplay elements. The game also included one of the most well crafted narratives the industry had seen at the time. Looking back, Red Dead Redemption was lightning in a bottle and had a uniqueness about it that still stands even five years after its launch. | Sandbox games are popular these days to the degree that the style is now becoming an industry norm.
