-At the time of this writing, Guided Games is still in beta for Leviathan and with good reason, which will be discussed in a momentThe third week due to everyone having a life outside of video gameseven fewer people could make it which meant it wasn’t happening with the group that we had been trying to attempt Leviathan with. Of my own volition I was determined to complete this dang raid. I turned back to Destinylfg.net and what I found was a pattern seen in Destiny’s community all gaming communities for far too long — elitismBefore reading any further, go to Destinylfg.net right now and put the search to the Leviathan Raid either LFG or LFM…OK done? Did something stand out? Was it that most people searching said something along the lines of "LFG must be 305 PL quick run must know what to do" This will be the most common thing seen on this website: elitists looking for other elitists to run with and the challenge of Leviathan doesnt help in the slightest. This not only deterred me, a Destiny 2 money Guide vetbut probably deters many new guardians as wellWhy even try the raid if those who want to run it only want the best of the best? While I know Sherpas exist (people who will take the time to run new folks through the raid— I’ve even run in few Sherpa groups myself — they are few and far betweenOnly eleven percent of Destiny 2 players have completed Leviathan and I dont see that number climbing much faster, but only time will tellWhen Destiny 2 launched around fifty percent of players in the first Destiny had completed some sort of raid contentwhich was after a three-year period with the game. Where does this leave Leviathan then? Not looking good and it doesn’t speak well to PvE endgame content for the future of Destiny 2.+Curse of Osiris’ plot can be beaten in two hours and is filled with so much repetition and so little expositionOsiriswho is the character this DLC is about, only shows up in the flesh for a minute at the very endThe main villain is just an ominous robot who shows up and then is defeated through a quick-time event. To understand how lazy this story is, look no further than the ‘Deep Storage’ missionwhich is just re-purposed ‘Pyramidion’ strikeThe campaign does hold one bright spot; SagiraOsiris’ ghostVoiced by Morena Baccarn (Firefly, Gotham), Sagira briefly becomes your companion during large portion of the campaign and is a real delightCharming and well-written, its disappointing when she does finally leaveNolan North’s performance as Ghost has declined in quality over the years, and it would have been great if players got the option to choose who they wanted as their companion.

-It wants to be a sci-fi epicbut also a dedicated "fan’s game." It wants to welcome in new players, but old systems built in are great for pushing them away. It wants so much, and it can’t focus on what. This can most prominently be seen in the new Raid-lair coming outDestiny as series has gained a reputation for world-first completions of its raid, something to be seen as a raceWhat happens then to those who casually play that might want in on the action? It pushes them away, like everything else in Destiny 2. Why would anyone want to try their hand at the end-game content when it’s advertised as something for the best of the best.+[JH]: Sothat’s kind of outside the scope of where we have our involvementWe’re super dedicated to story, and the high-level development decisions based on classes or specializations happen amongst other teamsWe try our best to have good narrative wrapper around that decision-makingOur involvement in the PvP is to develop a strong character in Lord Shaxx.

-Destiny 2 is good at two things: shooting aliens in the face and doing that same thing with friends. Destiny 2 screwed the pooch on players as it's not only is on three platformsbut those three platforms can totally interact… oh waitno they can’tDestiny 2’s lack of cross-play is frustrating for the obvious reasons. Being able to play with friends in an online space is one of the many reasons people play online games and one of the biggest reasons people play Destiny 2Having Guardians on PS4Xbox One and PC is great as it means a wider audiencebut it sucks when Guardians can’t play with their friends over on either of the other platformsMuch like Kotaku discussed in their latest Splitscreen podcast , this is a great way to tear people apartInstead of enjoying the raid with all my friendsnow get to hear about how my friends did this without me over on Xbox or PCor vice-versa, and it doesnfeel good.+The competitive multiplayer experience in Destiny 2 has probably been the thing to see the most change from the first game, or at least the most noticeable. It seems like Bungie is taking cues from both highly competitive shooters of today like Overwatchwhile also harkening back to their old seriesHaloIn terms of new, the first things you'll notice are the user interface changes and the four versus four setupThe UI shows new detailsmost notably the ability to see what subclasses both friendly and enemy players are usingif they are alive or not, and whether or not they have their super readyThis information is helpfulTo my own detriment, I don't usually adapt how I play first person shooters, but this small inclusion has made me think differently about how I was playing; how aggressive I was deciding to bewhere I was going to go next. It's a small but useful things. The 4v4 change doesn'affect things too drastically, although sometimes when a big fight breaks out, it does seem even more hectic than the first game. Where Destiny 2 hearkens back to Halo is in the fact that there's a noticeable difference when it comes to TTK, or time to kill. It's a good deal higher, which means it's going to take longer to get an enemy down.

-After that first mission, though, players are immediately ejected to space, where limited number of things to do sits in a classic Destiny menuLike, whatI can’t even land on a planet and just wander aroundWith nowhere else to goits either hop in the Strike or hop in the Crucible. +(Image: https://www.theloadout.com/wp-content/sites/theloadout/2023/02/destiny-2-lightfall-walkthrough-550x309.jpg)Destiny’s sequel still has stunning lack of features, of new things to do in and with its contentWhere’s the variety of Crucible modesWhere are the custom lobbies? Where is Horde mode and strike scoring? What about customizable difficulty and gameplay modifiers? Why don’t we have any in-game systems we can use to challenge ourselves and our friends? If incentive is necessary, why not offer emblems for running strikes, story missions or even raids with certain modifiers turned on? How about system to share or feature custom-made challenges and offer a small sum of Silver for popularityAdditional raidsstrikes and explorable spaces are nice, but they dont solve the problemFeaturesthings to do with that contentdo solve the problem and Destiny 2 collectibles 2 currently doesnt even offer as many as its predecessor.
- +Having gotten fed up with trying to find an appropriate group to run with from Destinylfg.netit was time to turn to the new feature that seemed like it would deliver better results: the new Guided Games. Guided Games makes players jump through some hoops with good reason trying to create the most toxic free environment for play that it can, it sort-of works. FirstGuardians will spend token to get into GGthen players agree to the Guardian Oath stating they will be friendlyhelpful and dedicate the time. Then if you’re a seekerwhich I wasit gives an extra-long waiting time to make sure that the player is in it to win itMy first group I ended up waiting over an hour for. After some general party chat confusion and actually doing the banner part without talking in the fireteam I had grouped withwe finally figured it out and we could talk. This did not help either.
-Stillthe EDZ is a gorgeous area to exploreand more visually impressive than the vast majority of Destiny’s worlds with only Venus giving the EDZ a run for its moneyWhile its size may be a bit deceptivewhat matters more is if there’s enough content to make exploration worthwhile. +I wasn't a huge fan of any of the guns in the Destiny 2 Beta, although I'm usually picky and stick with the ones I really like, but they do seem different and cater to different needs. You're also given lot of options in the Beta which is nice, including the ability to test out all of the different kinds of guns. They've changed the organization of guns as well, and I'm not too much of a fanalthough I could see it working once you have a whole host of guns to choose from. Instead of Primary, Secondary, and Heavy, it's Kinetic, Energy, and PowerHeavy and Power are synonymouswhile Kinetic means regular weapons with no energy ability attached and Energy simply means that they do. Energies, remember, are the Solar, Void and Arc powers that weapon might come withSo now, if one is Kinetic and one is Energyyou could have two assault riflestwo hand cannons or any mix of what we think of now as Primary and Secondary weapons in those slotsWhat I ended up using, though, was a sidearm in the Kinetic slot and an assault rifle in the Energy slot, which meant I spawned with the sidearm, which was weird. It's different, but I think that when I actually start using it it will make more sense.

-(Mild spoilers for the first mission of the game ahead) The Beta begins by throwing you into the first mission of the gamecalled Homecoming. A short cinematic shows your character and his or her ghost flying towards massive cloud. They look at one another confusedmutually deciding to fly through the smoke to see what's going on on the other side. When they emerge, the City is being bombarded by the Red Legion of the Caballed by Ghaul, the main baddie of Destiny 2's campaignWhen you drop into gameplay for the first time, it's on the edge of the Tower and you fight your way to the top. You're equipped with good amount of weapons, including assault rifles, sub machine guns, hand cannons and a few Power weapons, as well as your new class abilitieswhich we'll talk about later. +

-The other side of the loot pool is the now titled "Illuminated Engrams" (previously Bright Engrams) which drop all sorts of cosmetic goodies and sometimes an exotic shipsparrow or Ghost. Bungie is sticking to their guns with how these engrams function — aside from the debacle of XP gain — a minor complaint comes against it. With so many new cosmeticsmainly shaders, why can’t these items be locked like armor or weapons? Why can’t they be deleted in mass? Having to systemically break-down shaders one by one is tedious and a waste of timeNo one wants to sit around and delete 65 bland shaders"wooolook how much fun I’m having."(Image: https://static.deltiasgaming.com/2025/03/Destiny-2-Imago-How-To-Get-and-PvE-PvP-God-Roll-Guide.jpg)+
