-It’s surprisingly fun figuring out how to trigger the Heroic Public Events, and the rewards are well worth the effortWhether you losewin basic Public Eventor triumph in a Heroic Public Event, Destiny 2 always makes sure to reward you.+Looking back at the original beta for vanilla Destinythere was a tremendous amount to do and see, even some leveling involved. The Destiny 2 beta feels like Bungie is keeping their cards close to the chest because anything that could rock the boat might just tip it overDestiny is successfulbut it comes with reputationand scuffing up that reputation in anyway could make or break sales numbers once September rolls around. The beta gives enough of itself to put players at ease while also remaining the carrot and the stick. For Destiny fanit’s easy enough to digest; take everything learned from Destiny and apply that to this beta, it’s a guaranteed good time. For those who might be making their way back though, this might look more like a shooter than the online multiplayer game Bungie promised. While I can only speculate as to why the amount of content was significantly trimmed down, it’s probably for good reason or it’s just actually a beta.

-Of all the things players can do in the open area, Adventures are the most story-drivenPresented on the map as an orange banner with a white swordthese activities task Guardians with following a series of objectives. Structurally, Adventures most resemble the mission design of missions from the original; get an objectivego clear out a wave of enemies, listen to Ghost speculate a bit, and battle a boss.+Hardcore Gamer was invited out to Bellevue, Washington to check out Earth’s new open area, the European Dead Zone (EDZ)Replacing the Cosmodrome, the EDZ may look fantasticbut does it provide enough meaningful content to keep players invested?

-The Last City isn’t the only thing out thereOne of my first memories of Destiny is one of the story missionsthe name of which escapes me at the moment. In this particular missionafter activating some beacons, your Ghost makes the comment of things deeper out in the universethings unseen and ancientWhile this may have been a reference to Crota at the time or even Oryx, it still felt as if Bungie was hinting at a lot up its sleeveWhen really digging into the Destiny Grimoire or even just playing the gameits obvious humans expanded across the stars at rapid pace. Destiny 2 is following in suitwith the three new locations Titan, Nessas and Io they couldn’t be digging the heels more into lore. These are spaces that will show off how humanity took control of their…Destiny. The Traveler brought with it the Golden Age and Destiny 2 PvP guide 2 seems to want to show just what that means.+(Image: https://www.istockphoto.com/photos/class=)Which brings this full circle back to the Strike. With only one Strike to tackle, any Guardian checking out the beta will probably play this a few timesIt was with my second group that more problems started to crop up. The beta is a stress test on Destiny 2’s systemso having such sparse…everything...became more noticeable. There is a limited arsenal in Destiny 2 at the moment, and when the party hit the bosswe started to wipeAfter the third wipe I began switching out weapons in every combination imaginablebut we just couldn’t land it. Having played Destiny since vanillaId say the skills are thereBut here is Destiny 2 presenting itself as challengingbut there is always that inkling that it’s a façade. Again, every Destiny 2 crafting guide expansion has done this. New encounters, new mechanics, new gear. It makes it all seem like the game has changed, but level up enough, equip the right stuff and that boss that was causing so much grief becomes laughable. One can only hope that this beta is not tricking players into a false experience, but that won’t be revealed until September. So, for now it’s the waiting game.

-Well that didn’t take long. Itonly been about month since Destiny 2 released and it’s already struggling to hold its players’ attentionMany are focusing on loot or the sheer lack of content as the cause, but the game's real issues run bit deeperHaving loot to grind for is all well and good, but it doesn’t amount to much when there’s not a whole lot one can actually do with it. The game’s economy has also undergone very player-unfriendly changeone that encourages microtransactions and hoarding over fun and engagementEven the moment-to-moment gameplay has sufferedWhat was once relatively fluid and fast-paced combat has become slow and laboriousAs it stands, Destiny 2 meets the basic requirements necessary to be called a full and proper sequel rather than a glorified expansion, but falls into the category of unsatisfying sequel that "fixed" all of the wrong things.+Destiny 2 is laying the groundwork for outstanding storytelling and unforgettable moments. It'setting solid foundation for the game it always wanted to be, while delivering the things Destiny never could. It’s an exciting time to be a Guardian even if it means the Last City falling only to pick ourselves up one more timeAt least this time, there are those worth fighting for.
 +
+It was the third week which meant the Gauntlet room was up first; room I hadn’t encountered yetThe mechanics were explained and I felt good with the ease at which this seemed like it could be done. The Gauntlet room only echoed what the world-firsters had stated; those seeking to guide others through the raid were going to have a hell of a time. A certain party member who also was seeker wasn’t talking much throughout the two hours spent trying to get coordination down. They kept wandering offnot listening and generally being unhelpfulIt ended with them dropping out of the fireteam never to return even with party invites thrown their wayIt was time to call it quitsDefeated the third seeker and myself thanked the Clan that had been the guides for their time and parted ways.

Humanity isn’t the only thing occupying the wide-open galaxy; there are the other two races as well. The Exos are powered by the light and that seems to be a living source. Besides humanity fighting its war there are the Awoken and Exo, both related to humanity while not being human. Equally as important to the scope of it all. Without getting into the nitty-gritty of these two races, just know that Bungie does plan on telling their stories eventually. The other major tie in for these two races is all the other high sci-fantasy space stuff going on. Without getting into space dragons (because they exist), there are also things in this universe the Destiny community has yet to encounter, unless counting Xur. Which brings this to the Nine. The Nine have been a known part of Destiny since the game's release, but the only contact anyone has had with them is strictly through Xur, an agent of the Nine. With Destiny 2 taking us to Titan, players just might get closer than ever before to this elusive group of who knows what (hint space dragons). Doing some digging, it's known the Nine occupy either Europa, a moon of Jupiter, or Titan, one of the new locals in Destiny 2, a moon of Saturn. Humanity isn’t the only thing occupying the wide-open galaxy; there are the other two races as well. -Placing all the powerful weapons in the same category has good potential for PvP, but it’s also functional misstep in terms of PvEPower weapon ammo drops more often in Destiny 2 than heavy weapon ammo in Destiny 1but still not nearly as often as kinetic or energy weapon ammo. So right away there’s less incentive to use that ammo for any weapon other than a rocket or grenade launcher. Why waste that relatively rare and precious ammo on a sniper rifle when it could instead be spent on something much more powerful? It’s the same issue with abilities in that they’re all restricted by ridiculously-slow cooldowns. Instead of enjoying the ability to toss a grenade into a group of minor enemiesdodge around the battlefield at one’s leisure or even pop a super to take on mid-bossthe game encourages players to bank them insteadTo use one’s abilities in any situation other than the most desperate is to see them go to waste. Nobody wants to be caught staring at cool-down meter when theyre stuck in tight spot. These can at least be adjusted a bit with mods, but who wants to waste their mods on anything other than top-tier armor? The net result is gameplay that’s gone from fast-paced, fluid and fun, to something slow, limited and dull with no incentive whatsoever to make use of the game’s most enjoyable weapons and powersIf the developers truly felt that these changes were necessary to achieve a more fun and balanced Cruciblethen perhaps it would have been better to just separate the Crucible from the rest of the game.+There was no way Persona game would slip past my radarShin Megami Tensei IV was easily my number one game last yearso it only seems fitting that another in the beloved franchisewhile spin-offwas among my top 10 in 2014Persona Q is a fans dream, meshing both Persona 3 and Persona 4 into traditional dungeon crawler format similar to that of Etrian Odyssey. While it’s not your traditional Persona format with fusing various monsters and dealing with social interactions outside of dungeons, it maintains all of the glamour and appealIt definitely has its own set of issuesbut there’s just too much to love about mashing the characters from the two games and building an intriguing storyline around them.
