It's a menace and can take you down in just a couple of hits if you fail to read it properly, but he does have one big weakn | One of the best things about indie games is that they allow studios to bring all of their whacky and weird ideas to the table, and develop games that might otherwise have caused a lot of raised eyebrows or confused expressions when the concepts are seen on paper. For example, the notion of playing as a stray cat that explores a city populated by robots sounds bizarre, but the glimpses players have been shown of Stray so far paint a compelling and beautifully realized picture . Similarly, the ability to play a game where a bear runs a B&B in the woods in Bear and Breakfast or to control anthropomorphic dinosaur characters who are about to graduate in Goodbye Volcano High may seem like fever dreams, but there's undeniable genius in these concepts if studios can pull them |

| Using spirits in the heat of combat also shines a light on one of Black Myth 's more unfortunate problems. While I didn't experience any severe, game-breaking bugs during my time with Black Myth: Wukong , there are still some technical issues that players will have to deal with. Using spirits occasionally made the game stutter and freeze for a brief second, which may not seem like a big deal, but can have serious consequences in tougher fights. Other times, activating spirits simply didn't work because the game read the input as a different action. Players have to hit both triggers to use a spirit, but sometimes the Destined One would spin their staff instead. Any action assigned to the bumpers seemed to be slightly unresponsive from time to time, which can lead to a lot of headache in a game like this. The game also occasionally mixed-up the audio and subtitles. Despite having English audio and subtitles selected, a couple of scenes switched to Chinese audio and subtitles before correcting itself a few minutes later. As so much of Black Myth: Wukong 's footage has centered around the game's combat, it's nice to finally see many of the faces the Destined One will encounter during his journey being introduced in the final trailer. Of course, these characters don't appear until after the Destined One is seen meditating near a frozen lake — a feature that players will become familiar with as they progress through Black Myth: Wukong 's narrati | In the original Journey To The West 16th century Chinese novel, all the spectacular martial arts battles, scenes of sorcerous trickery, and missions to rescue Sanzang from certain doom (Sanzang gets kidnapped by demons quite a lot) are designed to be entertaining allegories for the principles of Buddhist faith - and its purported superiority to the competing philosophies of Daoism and Confucianism. Sun Wukong, an embodiment of the turbulent desires and whims of the human heart, is not disciplined by the teachings of Daoist immortals, nor is he restrained by the armies and bribes of the Celestial Bureaucracy.
